Case Study 1 Making Waste Valuable
Project Tittle: Optimizing Bio-Solids Recovery in Palm Oil Mills
Collaboration: Led by Envirofusion Worldwide & University Research Team
Overview:
Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) – a by-product of palm oil processing – is one of Malaysia’s biggest environmental challenge. Traditional treatment methods often fail to reduce pollution effectively or reuse the leftover sludge.
We teamed up with a university research team to:
- Improve desludging techniques in ponding systems
– Lower BOD levels (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) in treated water
– Explore how palm sludge can be turned into high-value agricultural products
Why it matters:
Instead of treating sludge as waste, our approach turns it into a resources – rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) for farming use. We’re helping palm mills move toward a zero-waste, circular system.
Case Study 2 MSPO Awareness Day
Collaborating Institution: Local University in Malaysia
Initiative: MSPO Awareness Training for Students
Overview:
Envirofusion Worldwide partnered with a leading Malaysian university to offer a 1-day Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) awareness training session. This program expose students to real sustainability standards used across the palm oil industry.
The outcome from this training, the students gained first-hand understanding of sustainability compliance, auditing systems, and the MSPO certification journey.
